Thin, Thinner , Thinnest
Motorola saved itself from oblivion with the single step of launching a thin mobile handset, the now ubiquitous RAZR. However last week in CTIA in the US, Samsung went a step further and launched the t509. This device which hits the market in May, is a candy-bar shaped phone that is thinner than a deck of cards at 9.8 mm thick and is a little skinnier than the latest Motorola Slvr, which measures 11.5 mm.
However the Samsung p300 which has been available here in Europe for a while is even thinner at 8.9mm.

Getting confused? So am I this week Samsung have gone yet further and announced an even thinner device. As the original blogger states "The Samsung X828 beats the previous record-holder, the KTF EV-K100 (itself announced only two weeks ago!) by a full millimeter. One millimeter may not sound much, but given that the EV-K100 was only 7.9mm, the new Samsung X828's record-breaking 6.9mm is a full 12.7% thinner."

OF course from my view when I hear about a "thin" device I tend to think more about a thin client versus a thick client for mobile web browsing. Unfortunately it is not so clear as to whether "thin" is better in this area. Many service discovery players such as SurfKitchen still think that thick client is the best option. Alatto Tribes mobile content discovery tool on the other hand is definitely in the thin client corner.
